Hi I'm Howard
I don't know what I don't know!
My favorite saying, pronounced in my strong northern english accent.
I love making videos and have been creating beautiful digital things for over 30 years. I'm here to share how I improved my mindset through life experience, self-help, and philosophy books.

Old philosophy via new media for inner transformation
I've learned from many years of life experiences, self-help, and philosophy books. ZMH is about distilling and simplifying my ZEN experiences for others.
No one is immune from mental suffering. A coach once explained my mindset…
“You are in a ditch, and you have a spade. You are working hard, digging the ditch deeper. What you really need is a ladder to get you out.“
My ladder came through spiritual philosophy mind hacks, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I built it step-by-step over time.
I'm still building my ladder. We are always a work in progress, and we must be kind and accepting of ourselves and others, not perfectionists.
My views are from my own experiences, read disclaimer.
My story
When I was a teenager, my dad passed away from cancer at 46. Back in the early 80s, emotional processing wasn’t a thing. In my thirties, I was separated from my best friend and partner by a tragic event.
These events disrupted my brain architecture and rewired my nervous system. They shaped my identity and gave me a narrative of loss. I was unconscious of how this influenced my behaviors for far too long.
Traumatic experiences can influence your everyday actions. Deep-seated fears can negatively impact your decision-making. Unfortunate experiences not only happen at a point in time but can continue to have a lifelong impact on our lives.
I recommend working with a trained therapist or medical practitioner for any mental health issues.
Overcoming life constraints
Once I developed awareness, I could start to reframe my inner dialogue. I embraced uncertainty rather than expecting what had happened before.
It's an amazing thing when you embrace the pure possibility that life has to offer.
Every triggering life experience seemed to have pushed me towards consciousness and understanding. It's more often relationships than tragic events. For some people, it can take only a simple remark that can hold them back for life.
It's not the size of the experience but the impact it has on us.
Turning a corner through a peak experience
In my 30s, I experienced a profound sense of peace for several months. It was a clear and deep belief that everything in life was exactly as it was supposed to be.
For someone who was easily anxious, this was a massive internal change.
It was triggered in me from an event. Watching someone I love go through a difficult experience caused me a lot of mental suffering. I think the pain level was so high it pushed me through to something on the other side.
Eckhart explains a similar experience in the popular book.
I felt drawn into what seemed like a vortex of energy. It was a slow movement at first and then accelerated. I was gripped by an intense fear, and my body started to shake. I heard the words "resist nothing," as if spoken inside my chest. I could feel myself being sucked into a void. It felt as if the void was inside myself rather than outside. Suddenly, there was no more fear, and I let myself fall into that void.....
..... For the next five months, I lived in a state of uninterrupted deep peace and bliss.

Suffering is in our nature
I would prefer to have been aware of a Zen mindset earlier. It's crazy how inefficient and self-destructive our thinking is. Suffering is the nature of what it means to be human and an opportunity to reveal truth.
I create digital things to help people
I've been creating all types of digital media for over 30 years: videos, infographics, websites, and e-learning.
I am truly blessed to try and share my Zen experience in as beautiful a way as possible.
If you are here to upgrade yourself, that's fantastic. I will do my best to serve you. Everyone is a work in progress. You are already wonderful because you are unique.
I am grateful to have found you in this time and space. Love & peace.
Wishing you well,
Howard
